Taste of Memories Cottage is located in Bánd under Essegvár castle ruin, embraced by the forest. The history of the small cottage began sometime at the beginning of the last century, when peasant houses were still built of thick stone walls in this region. We believe that houses have a soul and a personality, and only reveal their secrets to those who are willing to listen. And this house has plenty to tell.
When we bought it in 2021, it was our dream to give it a new life for at least another hundred years, and for the visitor to feel as if he had arrived at the village grandmother’s house, where the guest is welcomed with love and care. The sixty-centimeter walls ensure a pleasant coolness in summer, and in the cold months underfloor heating and a traditional cast iron stove (“sparhelt”) provide warmth.
Our four-star guest house can accommodate 4 people, so it is perfectly comfortable even if you want to come with your partner, family or friends.
Comfortable, large double beds ensure a relaxing sleep in both rooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathrooms.
We put the bigger bed (2×2 meters) in the bigger room, but in exchange you can go directly to the garden from the smaller room through the terrace door.
The kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher, as well as all the tools you need for cooking.
In cold months, you can also try cooking on the traditional cast iron stove, for which we provide firewood.
The built in bench in the corner functions as a dining table, but we designed it with such comfortable cushions that you feel like curling up with a book and a cup of tea or coffee, while you can also enjoy the garden.
We have created a garden for you to enjoy, to relax, to cook and eat, if you wish. You will find a garden table, a thatched seating area and a herb garden, so you can pick fresh herbs for your grilled meals. You can sit outside in the evening as well, look at the stars and listen to the crickets and complete silence. Evenings are cool in Bakony mountains even in the summer, but we provide you with a blanket in that you can wrap yourself in the garden. Charcoal for grilling is also provided for you.
Opposite the guest house, there is a private gravel parking lot for two cars.
We are a family-friendly place, we are happy if you come with small children and we want to make sure that your stay is as comfortable with your family, as possible.

We also happy to welcome your dog in the cottage. All we ask is that the puppy has its vaccinations, has a registered chip and is at least 1 year old. Accomodition fee for dog is HUF 4,000 / dog / night.
The cottage is also equipped with washing machine, iron and ironing board, which can be useful for longer stay.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Bánd is indeed an island of peace and tranquility, but the price of this is that its mobile network coverage is not perfect. Mobile internet is not available in certain places in the village, and there are also places where the telephone network does not work. When connected to the WI-FI in the house, with the WI-FI telephone service turned on/enabled, you can use the mobile phone without any problems on the appropriate devices.
We believe that Bánd and the surrounding countryside, as well as the tranquility of the house and the garden, provide plenty of relaxation, so we deliberately did not equip our guest house with a TV. WIFI is of course at your disposal.
